Friends of Simpson's Hospital

Simpson’s Hospital is one of Ireland’s longest established charities. Our main fundraising activities are carried out by the Friends of Simpson’s Hospital.

The Friends of Simpson’s Hospital is a voluntary group dedicated to enhancing the lived experience of the hospital’s residents. Their focus is to contribute to the well-being and quality of life of the residents.

Over the years the Friends have held annual garden fetes, antique valuations, quiz nights and a very successful art exhibition.
The JOE DALY Memorial Cycle has been happening for over thirty years every summer, and has been our only event since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
JOE DALY has been a great friend to Simpsons Hospital.  He would have been 100 years old last year and a special cycle had been organised but sadly had to be cancelled.

Unfortunately due to the visiting restrictions since March 2020, we have not been able to thank the cyclists personally as we have in previous years.

We now want to offer a big, joyous THANK YOU on behalf of all our Residents, Staff and Trustees. They are a wonderful group of supporters of Simpson’s Hospital, true community heroes.

Monies raised from the cycle have funded new garden furniture, Christmas lights and decorations, special chairs and a new television for the conservatory.

But Joe Daly’s legacy lives on!

His wonderful children – Paul, David and Bernadette have carried on the family tradition with the support of the Orwell Wheelers.
Bernadette organised a Go Fund Me page for a virtual cycle this year.
For this we are eternally grateful.

Maintaining strong ties to the local community is very important to the continued success of the hospital.

If you are interested in joining the Friends or have any fundraising ideas please contact the hospital.

Donations and bequests are gratefully received and ensure we continue to provide an enhanced experience for our residents. Our charity number is CHY 234.
